Heiki passed away suddenly in his sleep on Sunday, April 15, 2012. He was born in Tartu, Estonia to Helen and Hendrik Oyamaa on October 4, 1934. In 1948, the family immigrated to Canada to start a new life. Heiki attended Sir James Douglas Elementary and later Gladstone High school. He graduated from UBC as a Mechanical Engineer in 1960 and joined BC Telephone where he met Barbara. They were married in 1969 and have enjoyed 43 years together. In 1974, the Company transferred him to Victoria where he and Barbara enjoyed living for fourteen years. After retiring from BC Telephone in 1992, he joined other Canadians to work in Medan, Indonesia as a communications engineering consultant. He also worked in Beijing, China, Qwest in Kent, WA and lately, Dixon Engineering Corporation.

Predecased by his parents and sister, he will be lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara, nieces Erika Diaz, Kersti Ojamaa, Christine Robertson and Vaike O’Dwyer. Nephews Alex Lepik, Paul Sikora and Rob Sikora, sister-in-law Maureen Sikora, Brother Peter Ojamaa and wife Janet and brother-in-law, William Lepik and many friends.
Over the years, Heiki was active in the Estonian community participating in many activities. In 1962, Heiki recorded sermons for the radio program, The Estonian Church At Home and these very recordings are being heard in Estonia today.
